<p dir="ltr">On console, run </p>
<p dir="ltr">ifconfig -a</p>
<p dir="ltr">This will list all avaolable Ethernet interfaces.</p>
<p dir="ltr">It is possible that you now have eth1 in place of eth0.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I had my home server die last night, and moved the HD to a new box. Network did not come up due to eth0 becomming eth1.</p>
<p dir="ltr">All I had to do was change network configuration in /etc/network/interfaces</p>
<p dir="ltr">Maybe you are having the same happen.</p>

Story is lightning strike on power pole, a local computer bloke
diagnosed a fried mboard and replaced, which at least allowed it
to boot but does not recognise the netgear ethernet cable.<br>

This is being sent from my small laptop via wifi from the router
which seems to indicate that works.<br>

I'll deliver the computer and of course pay - not looking for a
freebie just need my computer back.<br>
<br>
Running Kubuntu but tried a Gnome live disk, no change advised
cable not connected.<br>
<br>
Any advice would be appreciated.<br>
