<p>I have a number of Digital Mentoring Clients that may be
interested in obtaining assistance in transitioning to Linux. Does
anyone have any objection to an ex-member forwarding the details
of this event on?</p>

PLUG
<br>
<br>
The PLUG committee discussed an Installfest event and
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://endof10.org/">https://endof10.org/</a> was good motivation to make it so.
<br>
<br>
We have a venue that <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://jafwa.asn.au/">https://jafwa.asn.au/</a> have generously offered
to share.

<br>

<br>

<br>
Canning Hwy After Cliffe St (Stop No: 10338)
<br>
<br>
---------------------
<br>
<br>
Our planned Linux flavours are:
<br>
<br>
Mint (easy Windows transition)
<br>
Ubuntu (most popular and versatile)
<br>
Debian (most debian)
<br>
<br>
Opinions welcome.
<br>
<br>
What we need for the event is:
<br>
<br>
- to firm the start time. JAPWA starts at 12.30; we could book
part of the venue to start earlier. Opinions welcome.
<br>
<br>
- anyone who wants to assist on the day (or attend)
<br>
<br>
- the following equipment (either to loan or as a permanent
contribution to PLUG):
<br>
<br>
- a small server like
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://reboot-it.com.au/products/hp-proliant-microserver-g10-opteron-x3421-2-1ghz-16gb-no-hard-drives-wty">https://reboot-it.com.au/products/hp-proliant-microserver-g10-opteron-x3421-2-1ghz-16gb-no-hard-drives-wty</a><br>
<br>
- a wireless link Ubiquity or similar to cover 200m to access
FttP nearby (to loan on some day prior for testing and on 30
August)
<br>
<br>
- thumb drives preferably with the latest Mint, Ubuntu, or
Debian Linux Live installed
<br>
<br>
- network and power gear once our needs become clearer
<br>
<br>
Our usual promotions through Meetup, Google Calendar, and
also endof10.org
<br>
<br>
Once we know the start time we can advertise and ask for
installation attendees to express interest (to initially gauge
numbers).
<br>
<br>
All the best
<br>
Harry (PLUG OCM)
