Is this new in 2.2 kernels?  In Debian 2.1 (originally a 2.0 kernel
based distribution) a cron job is set to run every 20 minutes which
tests for the presence of loaded modules and runs 'rmmod -a' but I guess
this isn't really needed if the kernel takes care of that for you. 
Anyway, all the more reason not to bother loading modules manually. :-)
