Hi all.

Just a quick question. Being pretty new to Linux this
has me stumped.

I am running Debian and seem to have a problem with
aliases in the .bashrc file.

When I log in at a console on the box itself or
remotely using putty and type alias it returns 
nothing. Yet if I type alias in a terminal window
while in Gnome I get the expected list of aliases 
displayed.

Does anyone know why they would not be displayed at
the console?
