[plug] boot error

What is "error 0x40"?  My computer went to the lilo screen, I selected
linux, the words boot linux came up, then error 0x40, then boot linux
again.  I pressed enter, and linux booted, and everything has been
fine since, but I've gotten this error before recently and I've been
wondering what it means.
