[plug] append problem

I am trying to set up a cdr..

When I add append="hdc=scsi" to the lilo.conf file and then run lilo, I get 
an error :         Syntax error near line 28 in file /etc/lilo.conf.

Yes, line 28 is the line added, and the error disappears with the deletion of 
the added line.

The module ide-scsi.o is loaded and the cdrom has been working perfectly. The 
fstab and harddrake reveals that the cdrom is on hdc. The machine is a 
Mandrake 7.2 .

Any ideas?
