[plug] starting up kde faster?

Plug,

Does anybody have any tips for making KDE 2.2 start faster? It
currently takes 20-30 seconds on my PIII 900Mhzw/256MB RAM laptop.
Gnome was faster, but still I'd like my laptop to be up and running
in well under a minute, it's currently taking 80-90 seconds:
  30 seconds for BIOS, nothing I can do. ugh.
  25 seconds for kernel+some services
  30 seconds or so for X + KDE.

I'm trying out IceWM and it seems nice enough. But I miss my KDE
tray icons for XMMS and Licq. :(

Any suggestions I'd be very greatful for!
