Ive had a surface pro4 since 2014/2015 or so - has gentoo on it.
Its now sitting on a shelf (battery and cooling problems)
superseeded by a framework12. These days it seems support for
surface pro models is much better but it depends on what model you
are looking at as to how many hoops you have to jump through (the
older models suck!).

Alternatively, it would be ideal to get it installed during an
installfest; the next one is in Bunbury (20 Sept), not sure if
that's too far away for you. Perhaps we can do it during the next
Cannington Library meetup (6 Oct)?
