OK been doing a little messing about, even though the Logitech Quickcam 9000
supports 1600x1200 it's not at full framerate (at least on linux). The
best I can
do is 800x600 @ 25fps which is more than enough for PAL (720x576). I
also need to run guvcviewer to ensure the exposure auto-priority is disabled
otherwise the framerate drops to ~5fps too...

So at 800x600 and 25fps (no auto-priority on exposure) then things are a little
dark, i.e. we need good lighting.

Using the above command to capture to disk (not send to dvsource) I use
between 35-40% of a CPU on my desktop (2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo).
