Well it's definitely not a GRUB/MBR issue. Something weird with
windows. Can't get into safe mode?

If you still have the original install, you could try sysprepping it
before taking the image, however setting up a sysprep is not a trivial
task. (not hard, but you need the AIK which is a 2GB download).

Personally I'd use it as an opportunity to fresh install. Windows
needs it every now and then.
