While configuring a DNS this morning, on a freshly-installed RedHat 5.2
system, I was startled when named didn't pick up /etc/named.boot at
all... man named... Oooh, default file is now /etc/named.conf...
examining (by now quite wary)... and the format is totally different...
however, there is a PERL script (in
/usr/doc/bind-8.1.2/named-bootconf.pl) which you can run as
./named-bootconf.pl </etc/named.boot >/etc/named.conf to convert your
old named.boot file across.

There is one very very important thing one must realize before even
attempting to use vi: there are two "modes." Don't ask why. "Why" is
the question the programmers want you to ask; don't give in to the
temptation. -- David Packer
