I've been running Samba for years on an 8 Mb 486DX33 along with (for a
while) mail, a web server, my internet conenxion, NFS, SOCKS5, perl
scripts etc.

For the most part it didn't seem particularly stressed: the only thing
that stresses it is running XFree: that causes LOTS of disk activity.

I gather running Linux in 4 Mb can be done, though perhaps not the RH
install.

I think to be generally useful though, 16 or maybe 32 Mb and more disk
spave (the first disk is 170 Mb) is required.
