Unfortunately, as far as I've been told, the mwave is such a beast
(winmodem)
At least I know of at least one linux expert who's tried getting one of
these to work under linux, and failing getting either the soundcard or the
modem part to work.
You're much better off shelling out $30 for a cheap ESS or $70 for a
genuine SB16, and buying an external modem.

On the other hand, I could be wrong - I've never tried to get one to work
myself under linux (although I've tried to get several to work under win95
for customers, and have had sufficient trouble with them for me to add
them to my personal hardware blacklist :) I got most of them to work,
eventually, but not without a lot of hassle. If anyone on this list has
successfully got an mwave to work (or knows someone who has) PLEASE
correct me :)
