Would you believe I install some paid for (cant spell commercial)
software which installed all its files and directories 777! When I
questioned the the vendor about this they said the the "XXX" directory
needed to be writable by anyone using the software - they didn't say
anything about the other directories. The sad thing is that if you have
to restore from backup their are licensing issues and you must contact
them before doing it!

Ver 5.0 of this software will be out soon - it will be interesting to
see if they stay with the 777
