[plug] Install via NFS or FTP (RedHat 5.0)

I have a single-IDE 486 and a CDROM that refuses to work on the same IDE
as a HDD, so I'm trying to install RedHat with NFS or FTP.
I'm fairly sure the network is adequate, because I get a long delay if I
specify an incorrect server IP and a short delay when it's right. But I
don't seem to be able to get started with either process when I specify
the path '/mnt/cdrom/RedHat/instimage' or '/mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS' or
'/mnt/cdrom/RedHat' or even just '/mnt/cdrom'.
The FTP and NFS daemons are running - I can mount locally on the server.
Has anyone done an FTP or NFS install in RedHat and knows the trick?
Otherwise I guess I'll have to buy another dual-IDE card . .
K.
