I have a Microsoft Intelli mouse and it works fine under X using the click
of the wheel as a third button, you are suppose to be able to set the
scroll up and down of the button as a forth and fifth buttons and use it
for scrolling but I haven't got it worked out yet.

Anyway, make sure you tell X how many buttons you have on your mouse by
using the Buttons statement in XF86Config file

Mine is something like this

    Protocol "IM PS/2"
    Device "/dev/psaux"
    Buttons 5

And it works fine although I'm still trying to get the wheel working
properly
