I meant, how does the X-server do it?
If the X server tells a console to 'echo ^G' i'll be really disgusted.
How is it done at the kernel API?
The console drivers are inside the kernel, right? So they have direct
access to the speaker hardware. But perhaps there is am interface they
use?
