Bah.. limited bandwidth Humbug!!
I downloaded both slink cd images over a 28.8k modem..
I just made sure I was using lftp which will auto-resume, and using a
source
hanging off the waix so I wasn't chewing up omen's direct bandwidth :p)
diald helps too.. just set it to hold off for 10 minutes after you get
logged
off, to keep the daemons happy :p)
Only took about 5 days from memory :p)

Actually, I'm trying it here using apt-get dist-upgrade..
Only downloading 63mb for the whole upgrade..
However.. after Trevor's E-mail regarding libc6.1 and netscrape (Which I
use
a lot really) I've decided to hold off a while.. (After downloading
about 59mb
of 63)

The main reason I was going to upgrade was so I could try the new
Mozilla Milestone
but it seems that I had some SEVERELY broken librarys in my old system,
that were
fixed nicely by doing a clean reboot/install.
This also allowed me to better partition my drive, which was badly in
need of it,
and also to instal everything properly, as a user, rather than root..

To those that say Debian is not easy to install..
Maybe you need to try the latest version(ie slink).

I could have gone the easy way and selected one of the profiles it gave
me, but
even skipping that and telling it what I wanted using dselect, took very
little
time, and I ended up with a system with exactly what I wanted on it, and
no more.

Admittedly I did compile Windowmaker, gtk+, glib and wget from the
sources.. but
that was because I wanted to, rather than there being a problem with any
Debian
packages..

Having said that, even Bo (Debian 1.3) was an easy install for a
complete Linux
newbie..

Acrobat 4 is quite nice too...

Looking forward to seeing the new GUI front end to apt..
