[plug] Motherboard/SCSI/Kernel probem: where next?

Hi all,
I'm still stuck with this problem of the kernel and the Intel Nightshade
(N440BX) motherboard. I've tried various combinations of kernel
configurations but no luck... On boot while initialising the SCSI adaptor
(NCR 53c875, SYMBIOS compatible) it just times out and loops endlessly.
Searching on the web and Deja etc. suggests that this is a problem with
2.0 kernels which appeared in 2.2.11 also but then disappeared... although
I still seem to have the problem with my 2.2.13.
My question is, where should I go next? Is it appropriate to post this
sort of question to linux-kernel (I'm not subscribed and I don't generally
read it so I'm not familiar with the way it's run) or is there somewhere
or something else to try first?
Thanks,
Christian.
