Best method I've ever come across is a program called netcfg
which is on all
Redhat distro's...
The version of netcfg that ships on the RH5.2 CD has a very annoying bug
in it.
When you're editing the chat scripts it places the newly edited line
last in the sequence rather than leaving it in situ. The work around is
to edit every line, whether it needs it or not to restore the script to
the correct order. The "insert" option has the same flaw.
