This is actually LILO.

Its asking you if you want to boot off partition 1 (1), Floppy (F) or (I
cant remember what A is) (A)

have a look in the lilo docs.


Very often I see this type of error if you have "boot=/dev/sda1"
instead of "boot=/dev/sda" in your lilo.conf
