There's the cal/calender pair of programs that are faily simple to use,
and take up very little memory. There's an article on how to use them in
the current Linux Journal. They can also be used within scripts and can
run from within .bashrc file to show you want appointments you have when
ever you login in or pop up a new Xterm.
