Hmmm,
Last time that I read my copy of the Constitution I didn't
recall seeing anything about freedom of speech.
"...succeeded in stripping you of your freedom of speech..."
Also, I imagine colluding with a foreign national to
circumvent Australian law might be frowned upon.

govt regs being bypassed
Guys,
I don't know how many other ISP types got this mail
message. I think it was
quite interesting to get it a day after the
legislation was passed through.
Stiull I suppose some people wil try to make money
out of anything (maybe
like Cabletron...)
Take a look at this month's APC mag for some
intersting comments on the
issue.
Michael Hunt.
P.S. On the topic of APC there seems to be a lot of
Linux content coming
from there pages now. I have alos heard (and read in
the pages of this
months issue) that they are planning to release a
revised version of the
successful Linux pocketbook with 3 cover CD's and
Red Hat 6.0 !!!

Subject: Adult Websites
Greetings,
I am the owner of a semi-large ISP in the United
States (Zipwell Online
"Anything Internet" LLC) We have been watching
intently to the controversy
concerning adult content on the Internet in your
country. Now it looks like
your Senate my have succeeded in stripping you of
your freedom of speech.
Although Zipwell Online's primary clients are not
porn sites, we certainly
do not believe
that grown-up adults should not have these choices
decided for them. We
(Zipwell Online) would like to help in anyway we are
able. We have many
high-speed servers on an OC-3 and OC-12 backbone
connection. We would be
more than happy to host any site or co-locate any
servers that may be deemed
"unacceptable" by the Australian government. We do
not expect you to just
give us your clients. We would be more than happy to
share any revenue
generated. This will be >easy for us to do, as
Bandwidth cost us about ¼ of
what it cost you.
As I do not wish to be intrusive, I will not ramble
on. However, this offer
will be mutually beneficial to both of our
companies. If your are interested
in discussing our offer, please drop us a line back
and we'll contact you on
>our dime. Feel free to forward this to anyone you
wish.
At your service,
Michael Twombly
