I gave a course (not related to linux) a couple of years ago. I was paid 
$600 per day for classroom time.

My course preparation was unpaid - I had to familiarise myself with the 
course itself: knowing the subject is necessary but insufficient.

tbli Don't expect a professional course to be cheap. However, from the 
employer's point of view, there IS a good return in improved productivity: 
no sensible employer would want staff to sit around and muddle through 
things.
