[plug] Avenue for opposition to censorship bill - assistance sought

I work with a member of the WA Division of the Liberal Party who is
involved in a motion which is to be put at the next Federal Liberal
Party Council meeting expressing concern at the censorship of the
Internet under the latest Federal bill.  There are eight delegates
from Western Australia (including the Premier).  Of the delegates who
have expressed a view on the motion already, the majority have been in
favour.

Unofficially, I have been asked to provide some information that will
assist in the passage of this motion.  This could be a very good
opportunity for us.  The kind of information required is of a factual,
statistical and not emotional nature.  Comparisons are sought with the
UK system of Internet regulation (which is thought to work reasonably
well) and the Malaysian system (which has not worked well).  Hard data
is required.

I will coordinate the effort, but I would like other people's
assistance in compiling a concise folio of information on this topic
to put before the meeting.  The meeting takes place in three weeks
time but one or two weeks' lead-time is desirable.  Please treat this
request as reasonably private and do not forward it to other mailing
lists or newsgroups, because the request that has been made is an
unofficial one only.
