Try changing your gpm config so that you pass it the -R option, then check
you have a fifo called /dev/gpmdata (if not, create one with mkfifo
/dev/gpmdata), then change your Mouse config (in libvga.config) to
MouseSystems and tell quake2 (I forget the option, but it's there) to look
at /dev/gpmdata for the mouse.
It means if you have a 3 button mouse you can get the 3rd button working
too. :)
The same setup works great for X too, which refuses to use my third button
when it talks to the mouse directly, but is quite happy to use it when
talking via gpm.
