I just looked at my printer config: it shows DJ 500 (but NOT 500c) and
550C, 560C and 6xxC)
/usr/local/share/ghostscript/5.10/doc/devices.txt lists the 500c: did you
try configuring the 500 to see if that works? You may need to tamper with
the files that the printer configuration tool creates.

Well, if it's not broken....
Don't expect RHL 6 to fix the Deskjet problem.
If you want a 2.2 kernel, you can apply necessary updates to 5.3 and get
there: I'm running 2.2.(9|10) kernels on RHL 5.0 systems: the system still
on 2.2.9 simply hasn't been rebooted.
