SAP is a German company that sells an information integration suite 
of packages. Think of it as the "Borg of Information Management", 
heavy emphise on the word management. My department sells database 
historian (for process industries) which will seemlessly integrate in 
(or is that allow R/3 to seemlessly gather data).

The final result is that management can at the end of each day (or 
hour if they are that paranoid) figure out how much money they are 
making on each widget based on info straight from the plant.

A "dogbert special" if you ask me....
