Did this message actually make it to the list? I got no reply (and this
doesn't seem like a quiet ML), and I don't think I saw it reach the list
myself.

No idea! That would involve communication between people at Mudrock. -_^
Besides, most of my history with Linux has been home use, or with my
previous job at Curtin (can't escape these damn uni's!). I've only just
started to dabble with Linux at Murdoch (and the lab of NFS-Root PC's I
set up was for my part-time Curtin Lecturing job...)

I didn't get much response to my other queries. I'm left wondering if
any of the following is the case:
  - The questions/problems I posed aren't normal fare for this mail list
  - It's privileged info, and not to be dished out till I'm a fully
initiated Clan member
  - The fact that David Campbell was the one referring me to this list
has scared you all away
  - Something's up (my fly is low?) and you're all too busy keeping a
straight face
