Check out the documents at www.samba.org. With NT with service pack 3
and above there is a registry key that needs to be set so that it will
send plain text passwds over the net. Otherwise you need to do special
stuff with samba.

Make sure the samba machine has a lmhosts file or there is a wins server
it can talk to. There is a "browsable" setting you can make on shares.
