You will need to set up a username/password pair on the linux box for you
to connect to using NT (iirc, the NT password box asks for a username too,
doesn't it - if it doesn't you'll have to create an account that matches
the username you're logged into NT as)

Yes, but for it it "just works" so don't ask me how I did it. :)

I also "remote announce" my linux box on a remote network (the office
network which I'm not directly connected to) and I appear in their network
neighbourhoods too..
