Serious? Who said anything about serious? :)

Ditto for "organisation."

I think we expect people to join - but not because we're trying to woo
them with a flashy image. We expect them to join either because they
like Linux or they'd like to like Linux but need help to develop that
affection.

I don't think anyone's expecting (or trying) to get more out of the
group than they put in - this mailing list is a good example of this.
Lots of people regularly give their time to help others with the
problems on this list, no one's making money from this group or trying
to take more than their share. It's all give and take - mostly give.

Which world would that be? I don't think PLUG is here to make money or
to ensure that corporate people don't dodge $40 - it's here to promote
and support Linux - and hopefully to have some fun doing so. If this
means we're not in the real world, then I guess that's the way it is.

Christian.

I'm not trying to give users what they want, I'm trying to give them
freedom, which they can then accept or reject. If people don't want
freedom, they may be out of luck with me, but I won't allow them to
define for me what is right, what is worth spending my life for.
