VNC (see other thread) will give you an Xserver ('Xvnc') without a local
display. You can then see it from a windoze box.

Or, do you want to run X-clients (e.g. XTerm, window manager) on the Linux
box? X causes a lot of confusion here.

Even so, you might find VNC a better solution.
