[plug] ATAPI CD-ROM read corruption.

Anyone know why my IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM would be corrupting data as it is read from
the CD?? (Kernel 2.2.5).

I first noticed it when MP3's playing from CD started stuttering and skipping.
Further tests revealed it was not a regular error, and that copying files to a
HDD and playing showed they were corrupted.

Now, my first thought was dodgy CD Drive (it's a not too old 8x). While
installing Slink on the weekend, it made a few crunching sounds (JUST as I was
thinking what a wonderful trouble-free drive it was. *sigh*), so I thought it
must be hardware. However, tests show that it works FINE with no corruption
under Win98.

Any ideas??
