Melissa virus author found

Using a controversial tracking system, experts believe they have traced the
author of the Melissa macro virus. Two software engineers have traced at
least one specific Web site where the virus may have originated, using
Microsoft Word's 'global unique identifier' (a serial numbers inserted in
files), according to a ZDNet report. According to Richard Smith, president
of software company Phar Lap, and Fredrik Bjorck, a computer science
student, the finger points to an AOL site. "We can't be 100% sure," Smith
told ZDNet. "There is a possibility that [the Web site author] was framed.
There is a possibility of little green men coming from Mars, too." Several
mutations of the virus have already appeared.
