Respected Linuxites,

Does anyone have any reccomendations for Indexing and Searching
websites? We're currently using Netscrape Compass Server, which sort of
does what we want, but is a big slow black box, and misbehaves
frequently. Anyone know of similar products, preferrably free or
inexpensive, for Linux or Solaris?
(No Compass for Linux unfortunately)

If you don't know Compass, it's a Search and Index program; there's a
robot that crawls specified sites based on rules & such, and the data it
collects is searchable using a simple search, or advanced search making
use of META tags etc ...

Worse come to worse I could write my own, but it's not a small task...
