The Celeron 333 is of the new kind, which has cache on-die.
Check your BIOS hasn't disabled cache.
(I saw one report on linux-kernel where the problem turned out to be, he
selected "Turbo mode" in the bios, and that disabled the cache)

Also check you don't have any APM support on in the BIOS
