			I forgot to mention....

The "Free" version is only available from SCO's
website. You have to pay for media and shipping costs. It's a two user
version.

To install it you require a SCSI CD-ROM or an
IDE CD-ROM on an EIDE controller. NB an older style IDE controller will
not work. I tried and failed....

I'm running OpenServer 5.0.2 at home on a 486DX66 with
32MB RAM. Which also happens to be my LINUX PC.

Solaris are also giving away "Free" Solaris. Same deal
costs wise and only available from SUN's US website. I don't think that
there is a restriction to the number of users.

Both products are for NON-Commercial use.

The SCO's user restriction is based on the number of
concurrent connections.

I believe that the newer version of OpenServer has a
MUCH better PPP setup tool that the 5.0.2 version that I have.

Apologies for using such a name on this
mailing list, but does anyone
happen to know where SCO Unix can be
obtained in Perth? I remember a
few years back they were giving away
copies to students and enthusiasts
for the price of the media... does
anyone know if that's still the case?

				Regards,

				Christian.

I'm not trying to give users what they
want, I'm trying to give them
freedom, which they can then accept or
reject. If people don't want
freedom, they may be out of luck with
me, but I won't allow them to
define for me what is right, what is
worth spending my life for.
