[plug] Fatal error on boot up

Could do with some advice here.

After my old Sb sound card died I asked all you other Plugers for advice
on the cards they had been successful with.
I have since had an offer of a replacement SB card so all should be well
soon.

In the mean time I tried an old ESS 1688 card I have had for some time
which has never worked regardless of which operating system its been
offered.

It caused me all sorts of trouble  on re booting I needed to runfsck
manualy for the first time in ages. In addtion I continue to get the
following message
even though the card has been removed.

isapnp: /etc/isapnp.conf:17 -- Fatal - Error occurred executing request
'ISOLATE PRESERVE' --- further action aborted


I know this is a little lame but can I safley comment out all the lines
in /etc/isapnp.conf I'm not sure whats happening here.
