[plug] Linux halting at bootup

I'd back that.  One of my basic tests for a possibly dodgy machine of any
O/S (normally some horrid cheap IBM or Acer doing odd things in Win95) ) is
to see if it gets to the install screens in the Linux install.  Most usually
a problem is fixed by putting in good RAM.  The right sort of RAM is an
advantage too!
