I know that USR Couriers are well-eregarded in the US. They're also about 
twice the price of the Roadster.


Netcom also has (or did have) both Roadster and Courier models. The 
Roadster has an 8-bit processor & is cheaper (about half the price) than 
the 16-bit Courier. Modems with 16-bit processors come into their own when 
you want to transfer lots of data both ways. 16-bit modems are (overall) 
better able to cope with noise too. However, I don't wish to spend $400 or 
more to get one.
