You can certainly boot from an LS120 disk on the Intel Sunriva motherboard. 
 Under the "bootable devices" section the LS120 was covered by something like 
ARDD (I am working from memory here).  The abbreviation stood for something 
like "Atapi Removable Disk Device" or some such thing.  In my example the Hard 
disk and CD Rom were master and slave on the primary IDE and the LS120 was 
master on the secondary IDE.
