Congratulations, looks like your qmail install has worked, then - a
perfect match to the above, no?

Seems each message has an attached ID number. Different messages are very
likely to have different IDs. What's important is that, like in the
sample, the number is consistent throughout the message.

Hard to say, maybe the qmail docs will tell you. IIRC, qmail is v.well
documented. Just seems like a monotonically increasing number for log
identification. Do other logs on your system have those numbers, or just
the qmail ones? It may well be that your logger is just different to the
guy who wrote the HOW-TO (i.e. it gives more information)

doctor ordered, at least according to the orders you've relayed onto us.
