Hi,
My Linux Redhat 6 is giving me a bit of grief and I was hoping a PLUG guru may be able to offer some advice to a new Linux user???
When I bring up gdm and click on either backslash or /var the gdm window starts to flicker and freezes the session, so that the only way out is ctl-alt-bkspc to the gnome log in screen. Certain applications such as minicom and extace will only stay on screen for a second or two and disappear. When I go to add certain applets to my panel such as ones with graphical components (ie: wanda) my entire panel disappears completely from my desktop environment.
I've reconfigured X11 so many times and in so many ways I suspect I may have a bug in the system. In particular I've concentrated on XF86Configs monitor and graphics device sections. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. I don't suppose a simple way exists to understand the "core" dumped in my gdm?
tks
Tom....
