You probably should also restart said systems too,

Many processes cache the hostname and will continue to call it by the old
name. You can either restart all the processes, or simply reboot the computer.

Also, make sure:

1) /etc/HOSTNAME contains the fully qualified name of the machine
2) /etc/hosts is updated for the new name.
