Hi leon I have left it at that stage for about 1/2 hour It is redhat 6.1
I have found a boot disk that I made some time ago and it does boot from it
It gets to the stage that says
Remounting root filesystem in read-write mode {OK}
and then thats about it .
Should I leave for a a longer period
I am in Kalgoorlie.

How long have you left it like that? It may get through it yet. If it' a
Mandrake system, Alt-F12 may show you a SysLog.

Otherwise, rescue disk time. What disribution and version is it? Where
are you?

When you bring it back to life, ReiserFS it. It won't help you with
mount problems, but it makes powerdowns and glitches more survivable.

Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
