Wasn't there a similar problem to this recently?  May I suggest logging in
using a different account to the one you are currently trying?  It may be
the imap server having problems with multiple log-ins for one account.  If
this is the case, the earlier "problem" session should sort itself out
within the hour.

Otherwise, it would help to know a few basic facts, such as distribution
type, imap server type etc.
