The linux platform *is* successful. Success is not measure by # of users, or
corporate backing. Remember where linux came from, and after all this crap
blows over we will be left with the same thing: a stable OS which is open
and free. Who cares if Joe Bloggs' dad can ever install and use the thing? I
sure dont. I dont see 'world domination' as very important at all. If the
corporate world suddenly forgot about Linux, your use of the OS would be
unaffected. 

Same with MS, I dont really care what they do, I dont use their stuff. They
cant affect the Linux codebase in any real way, and unless they send troops
out with guns, they cant stop me using Linux... Remember that Linux got big
*before* all this desktop stuff became 'important', and if it all falls in a
heap, who cares????
