Pop3 has nothing to do with sendmail or postfix.
You will need to install a pop3 server.
Check for a line starting with pop3 or pop-3 in /etc/inetd.conf
and uncomment it if it's commented out, then check that the command it
tries to run (eg /usr/sbin/in.pop3d) exists on your system. If it doesn't
you will need to install the appropriate RPM
