I use/ have used the no brain installation options from suse and mandrake.  I
have not done a compile on an already ext2 system nor is my machine commercial. 

On occasion, my shangwa brand' tnt2 vid card and XF864x hangs from (IMHO)
nvidia's  attrocious drivers. As a result, the power button is required to be
hit and the pain is much less with ReiserFS, ensuring a quick reboot without
filesystem problems.
